Emma Meet Ewan

June 7th, 2010
Finally made it to the room. Was thrilled to have a private room even if it was the smallest room ever! But private is always best! Donald and I had decided long ago that the first person we wanted to meet Ewan was Emma and that we wanted for them to meet with just Donald and me in the room.

I was so thrilled when Donald went and got Emma. Seeing her happy face come through my door with her handsome daddy made everything wonderful. Emma was so excited to meet "her baby and best friend Ewan". Complete with her big sister shirt thanks to my good friend Natasha.

After we got our much needed family time, it was time to let in the grandparents.
Ewan is the first grandson for all of them

It wasn't long before Emma had Ewan in her arms too! She even sang to him "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"

I love my beautiful family!

Ewan Comes Early

June 7th 2010

All through the pregnancy Donald had a plan..once the date was set for the c-section the plan was in motion. What days Donald would be taking off, when my parents would arrive, how long they would stay to help and then Donald taking more time off, plus the move back to RB. Everything depending on Ewan's set due date..it was a carefully devised plan by Donald and he kept reminding Ewan and me to "Stick To The Plan". I was to take it easy during the days and not over due it, to get plenty of sleep during the night and eat all the right foods to ensure that Ewan would NOT come early. .....

Best laid plans and all.....

I went into labor around 1:00 am on June 7th, and by 4:00 am was waking Donald up to let him know that Ewan was coming a day early whether or not we wanted him to. We let my mom, dad and Emma sleep until about 6:30 and then went in and woke them all up letting them know that we were off to the hospital. Emma was thrilled and gave us big hugs at the door. My dad took our luggage to the car and Donald and I were off the Sharp Mary Birch were we had Emma. From the moment we walked in the door they treated us like we were their only patients that day. It still didn't stop me from getting very stressed out by the time I hit the surgery room. The anesthesiologist pumped quite a bit of drugs into me to calm me down so they could operate on me. But really all I needed was Donald back by my side holding my hand.

At 9:23 am on June 7th we were now proud parents of a 7lb 13oz 19 1/2 inch baby boy!

The moment Dr. Saffer pulled the baby out he said "WOW! This is one strong baby!" Ewan was immediately handed off to Donald. It was really hard on me this time because of all the drugs to calm me down from surgery I couldn't open my eyes to see my baby or talk to him. But by the time I was wheeled into recovery I was handed Ewan and started to come down off of all the drugs.

We got to sit and relax in recovery but I was trying like mad to wiggle my toes and move my legs because I couldn't wait to have Emma meet her little brother.

Donald and I were both exhausted from very little sleep that night and all the excitement that morning.
I was also very very lucky to receive internal desolvable staples to close up the incision. This was something very very new and they had only been using them for 2 weeks prior to me having Ewan. This helps radically speed up recovery and you don't have to stay in the hospital as long!

Gianna's Fairy Birthday Celebration

April 24, 2010After a very fun morning at Art Walk we headed to Gianna's 5th Birthday party. It was a Fairy Celebration. All the girls were in fairy costumes and it made for a super cute party! It started with making wands and jeweled butterflies! Then out to the big Tinker Bell Jumping house!

After exhausting herself Emma headed inside to play and wait for the arrival of Tinker Bell.
Tinker Bell arrived and talk about a frenzy of fairies! Those girls were ecstatic!
Tinker Bell soon took them all in hand and had them relax for story time!
Then there was face painting!
swinging!
The famous freeze dance!
and finally parachute time!
After a wonderful lunch with the biggest pizzas I have ever seen, and boy were they yummy, we headed inside for CAKE!
Of course it was Tinker Bell all the way!

And then presents!
Emma had so much fun. I can only imagine what the birthday girl (Gianna) must have felt about the day. Emma left in tears and did not want to leave. But we were not even out of the driveway and she was sound asleep. It was a very magical afternoon.

Art Walk 2010 Little Italy

So close to the end of my pregnancy, it was hot and crowed, but so worth the time. Emma, Donald and I all had a blast! We started off at Papaleccios for coffee and lemonade.
At the Kid's section of Art Walk there was a steel drum band from the Monarch School ( a school for homeless kids) They were amazing! We found a shady place on the steps and listened for a while. I need the break anyway.
Then we headed into the kids area for fun crafts and entertainment. Of course we had to stop at the Mission Federal booth for a bit of color fun. There were people from Mission Federal that still remember Emma's Grandma and what a wonderful boss she was.
They even had kids doing circus acrobats. It was very amazing to watch such small kids do such daring feats.
Then Emma took off like an airplane once we mentioned that we needed to get going to Gianna's Fairy Birthday celebration.
