Usually don't like to just do a bomb of unrelated photos but I have a few that are just so cute that I want to share that I took at some point in the last few weeks or so.

Ewan's First Food and Bottle!

Ewan is now 4 months old and the Doctor Neglia gave the go ahead for rice cereal and stage 1 foods. He also made it clear that if we ever want Ewan to drink from a bottle that we should start giving him one now. Not all the time but start introducing it. Ewan is now 16 lbs and 25inches. That's our growing boy.


of course we all had to get in on the feeding action. Even Emma gave it a go before Daddy had to jump in and save the day.
And to help make up for the surprise of rice cereal daddy gave Ewan his first bottle. And surprise surprise! Ewan drank it right down no worries on that front.
The next day we let Emma have a go in feeding "her baby" She was over the moon! I love how much she loves him!

Bees in Emma's Walls! Oh MY!

We moved into our new home at the end of June, before Ewan was 1 month old. And it was only a few days in that we started noticing dead bee's in the house. At first I thought maybe it was because with all the moving in that a few bees had gotten into the house. But it was every morning I would sweep up a bee or two by the back door or in the kitchen. I started getting worried. I didn't want my shoeless Emma stepping on one. We never saw them alive, but we couldn't figure out where they were coming from. When we called the landlord they suggested maybe a hive was in the fireplace so we tried smoking them out but nothing happened and there were still bees. Then one night while I was bathing Ewan at the kitchen sink I swear one came out to the recessed lighting and hit me, but Donald said that was nonsense, a bee would not be in the lighting. As luck would have it the house next door was up for sale in September and there was a bug inspector next door. We asked if he could take a look around and let us know if he could find our bee problem. As it was we were going on over 2 month of the "where are the bee's coming from" game. He left a note telling us to call him.....he explained where he saw the bees coming and going up between the top floor between our house and the neighbor's house. He said that if the bees were in our walls that it was a big job and would be almost $2000 to get them out. Now the pain of trying to find a reasonable bee contractor to get rid of the bees

It was a process over a month long of having every kind of pest control inspector out giving quotes. In the mean time I learned a ton about bees. We found out that they were in Emma's bedroom wall above her bed. Bees are the only warm blooded insect and only go out on nice days. That if you put your ear up to Emma's wall you could hear them like a loud fan running just on the other side, or you could put your hand on the wall and feel across and the hot spot was where the bees were at. It was crazy. We were told that Emma was safe and that the bees wouldn't bother us. And up to this point they hadn't. We also were told that they were just getting lost in the walls at times and would come out through the recessed lights or light sockets and head strait for a window or glass door to escape. Then they would bang their bodies against the glass until they died...It was really sad. In the end a very great contractor got the job and did an amazing job.

Here are the bee's still in Emma's wall

Almost a million bees were camping out in the wall and five large blades of honeycomb!
The guy explained that the bees had been there for well over a year and had to have spawned at least 2 other colonies in the neighborhood. He did what he could to not kill the bees by gassing them out before removing the honeycomb.
Then he had to clean it all out and spray it down with some special sealant to keep them from ever coming back. A job well done and a big YAY! No more bees!

Ewan's Birth Announcement

September 20, 2010The day after my birthday I was back at it again. I am so behind in so much and getting Ewan's birth announcements out so late was really getting to me so I sat down and finished them up on the 20th. I think they turned out so extra super cute and boyish. I ended sending out 100 of these lovely announcements. And the reviews I got back make me happy to know that they are being enjoyed. As with Emma's announcements I did all the art, and photography.
I even included a special cute sticker on the envelope and the whole owl theme turned out great!
So happy to have our little man Ewan Alexander in our lives!

Mommy's Birthday and Toulouse-Lautrec

September 19, 2010As a special birthday surprise Donald took me and the kids to see Toulouse-

Lautrec at the San Diego Museum of Art. I was super excited and it was another first for Ewan. It was his first art exhibit. It was a Sunday morning and we arrived before the museums were open. We parked behind the organ pavilion and walked around a bit

We ended up spending some time in front of the horticultural building...
where a man was playing a saxophone and Emma did an impromptu interpretative dance for everyone.
Then we headed back to the San Diego Museum of Art to wait for it to open.
After a wonderful time at the museum...and it was wonderful. We headed to the musuems out door restaurant and had a lovely lunch before heading home to a wonderful steak off our brand new grill and a very happy birthday cake!

Ewan's Frist Wild Animal Park Adventure

September 18, 2010It was my birthday weekend so we got to do things that I wanted to do. First up was a trip to the Wild Animal Park with my beautiful family, it was also Ewan's first Park adventure. When we first go through the gates we got Emma a pair of binoculars. She had a blast with them and still does. worth every penny.

Ewan was totally chill through out the day as usual.

We got icecream, went on the tram ride, and hike around a bit. To much of Emma's delight she can still walk through the log standing up!
And before heading home on that very hot Saturday Emma and daddy got a foot massage.

First Day of Ballet

September 9, 2010We decided not to send Emma off to preschool like so many other parents of 3 year olds and instead we enrolled Emma into ballet. I had spent months agonizing over my decision. After going to different preschools and dance studios and hearing them all give their say we made our choice. I was looking for something that would give her discipline, social time, coordination, poise, and special Emma time away from mommy and Ewan. This seemed like the perfect fit. 3 in my mind seems like such a young age to be shuffling your child off to school, but to get to dress up once a week, put your hair up special and have a total girly time seemed like the right thing to do.
Emma was super excited about going shopping for her special ballet clothes and new shoes. A half hour before her first class I let her get all ready and dance away in Ewan's room. We hadn't moved anything into the room yet so it was a perfect place to play and dance away.



Then it was off to her first Class. She ran right up to the door at Time to Shine studio....

And in no time at all was in the thick of things with all the other ballerinas . Up on her toes peering into her class waiting to go in. She jumped right in and did what ever the teacher said and as she did her leaps twirls and steps she gave out gleeful yells of "YIPPY" I knew right away that this was an excellent choice and that she was going to be just fine.
